Another Week Another Challenge: Soft Colored Floral Birthday Card

(Image © [2018] Stampin’ Up!)
Hi Friends

Good Afternoon! I am really feeling inspired by card challenges! Here is this weeks’ Freshly Made Sketch challenge. A simple layout almost makes it harder I think. My first thought was flowers! Of course if you know me this is no surprise. I love flowers and tend to buy those style stamps. Anyone else do that too? Mostly stick to one type of stamp?

I initially thought DSP with a floral pattern but then noticed my as yet untouched stamp set Timeless Texture (Wood 140514 / Clear (140517). I love texture stamps almost as much as flowers and this set has some great textures! I challenged myself to use soft colors for this challenge. I usually tend to go for brights. I chose Balmy Blue (146982), Daffodil Delight (119683), and Mint Macaron (138337).

I used Whisper White (100730) as my card base. For the first layer I chose Balmy Blue card stock and stamped all over with Timeless Texture ink (Wood 140514 / Clear 140517). Then I cut a 2 1/2″ X 4″ strip of Daffodil Delight (119683) and embossed it with the Lovely Floral embossing folder (148048). I stamped a sentiment from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set (143662) and attached the strip to the card and thought I was done.

The next day I looked at my card and thought it needs something else. Since I was working today with Eastern Beauty (143675) and the coordinating Eastern Medallions Thinlits (143725). One of the dimensional flowers seemed perfect. I cut the flower out of Daffodil Delight (119683) and added a blue gem for the middle of the flower.

I also needed a branch or sprig of leaves and instantly thought of Petal Palette (wood 145785/ clear 145788) and the coordinating Petals & More Thinlits (145655). The sprig of leaves fit just right. This I cut out of Mint Macaron (138337) using my trusty Big Shot (143263) and attached it to the card and placed the flower on top.

I think the additions helped the card immensely. What do you think?
