Thanksgiving Sheltering Tree in Autumn Colors

This Thanksgiving card for today is made with the Cat Punch and the Sheltering Tree stamp set. The colors chosen to make this card include Granny Apple Green, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Smoky Slate.

Hi Friends,

I hope you are doing well today! Thanks for spending time with today! Today’s card is an autumn scene made with the Sheltering Tree (137163) and  Winter Woods (wood mount 147658/clear 147661) ink stamps. I also used with the Cat Punch (144666) and a retired thinlit set called “Hearth and Home” (139666).

Color Combination

Today’s card is made with the colors Cajun Craze (ink 147085/card stock 119684), Crushed Curry (ink 147087/card stock 131199), Granny Apple Green (ink 147095/card stock 146990), Smoky Slate (ink 147113/card stock 131202), and Whisper White (100730).

Card Recipe: Cutting

I started off by cutting a 5 1/2” X 8 1/2” piece of  Cajun Craze (119684) card stock. Then I scored and folded the card stock at 4 1/4”. Next I cut Granny Apple Green (146990) card stock 4” X 5 1/4”.  Using my trusty Big Shot, (143263) I cut a window in the Granny Apple Green (146990) card stock. Then I used my Big Shot (143263) to cut a Crushed Curry (131199) card stock window frame. I cut a 2 1/2” X 3” piece of Whisper White card stock (100730). Lastly, I punched two cats out of Smoky Slate card stock (131202) using the Cat punch (144666).

Stamping

Next, I stamped the bunch of trees stamp from Winter Woods (wood mount 147658/clear 147661) stamp set. i used Memento Tuxedo Black (132708) ink and my Stamparatus (146276). When I use my Stamparatus, I can stamp multiple times, if necessary, to get a dark clear image. Then, I used the leaf canopy stamp from the Sheltering Tree stamp set (137163) and Cajun Craze ink (147085). Next, I wiped off the tree stamp and then used Crushed Curry ink (147087) to stamp the “leaves” on the trees.

Details

I wanted to make my kitties look like my mom’s kitty, Willow. She is a Balinese and is just gorgeous! She has dark tipped ears, toes and tail. I used a Stampin sponge (141337) and Smoky Slate ink (147113) to lightly color the kitties’ ears, toes and tails.

I positioned the Whisper White (100730) piece so that the trees looked good out of the window. To do this I used my trusty release paper trick! I applied double sided tape to the back of the window frame. I laid the Whisper White (100730) piece right side up on the release paper. Then I could easily position the frame in the best spot and not get adhesive all over! I trimmed any Whisper White peeking out behind the window frame.

FInally, I inlaid the Crushed Curry (131199) Window in the opening in the Granny Apple Green (146990) card stock. ThenI attached the two kitties so they would appear to be looking out of the window.

Sentiments

I stamped the sentiment “thankful for you” from Sheltering Tree stamp set (137163) with Memento Tuxedo Black (132708) as pictured. I stamped “Thinking of You This Season” using Cajun Craze ink (147085) on a piece of 4″ X 5 1/4″ Whisper White card stock. Then I attached the 4” X 5 1/4” Whisper White (100730) card stock piece to the inside of today’s card.

Well, that’s it! What do you think? I am pretty happy with how today’s card turned out. Makes a pretty good Thanksgiving card I think. If you would like to purchase any of the items for this card I would appreciate your business. You can contact me to order or just go to my 24/7 online shop here.

Buffalo Plaid Masculine Birthday Card

Today’s card is a masculine style Birthday card using the Buffalo Check stamp and Winter Woods stamps

Dear Friends,

(Image © [2018] Stampin’ Up!®)

Hi! I am so glad you’ve stopped by today! Today’s card is a Plaid Masculine Birthday Card using the Buffalo Check Background stamp (clear 147794 /wood mount 147797) and the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stampin’ Up! (143662) stamp set. I am always looking for great masculine cards. They are not as common are they? The Buffalo Check (clear 147794 /wood mount 147797) design is so versatile- from pastels for baby cards to earth tones for the rugged masculine look. You can’t go wrong! Shop now at my 24/7 online shop and get yours today!

“CASE-ing” Information

This card is based on one I made with my friend Inez Oberg at one of her Stamp Buffets. She always has awesome cards! the plaid technique I learned from watching one of Jackie Bolhuis’ you-tube videos. I decided to combine the two into something a little different.

Color Combination

Today’s card is made with the color combination of whisper White (100730, Soft Suede (ink 147115/ card stock 115318), Balmy Blue (ink 147105 / card stock  146982), Crumb  Cake (ink 147116/ card stock 120953) and
Basic Black 121045.

Card Recipe: Cutting Directions

I started out with a card base of Soft Suede (115318) cut 4 1/4” X 11”. I scored and folded my card base at 5 1/2”. I cut Balmy Blue (146982 card stock to 4” X 5 1/4”. I cut Basic Black (121045) card stock 3 1/4” X 4 1/2”. Then I cut Crumb Cake (120953) card stock 3” X 4 1/4”. Using my Big Shot (143263) and Stitched Shapes (145372) Framelits Ovals I cut a larger Basic Black (121045)  piece and then the next size down out of Crumb Cake (120953) card stock .

Stamping with my Stamparatus

Using my Stamparatus (146276), Soft Suede Ink (147115), and the Buffalo Check Background stamp (clear 147794 /wood mount 147797), I stamped the checked background. I wanted to keep it light this time. but the nice thing about using the Stamparatus (146276) is that I could made the check design much darker and clearer by re-inking and re-stamping the design. By using the grid on the Stamparatus (146276) for placement and a magnet to hold your card stock in place you can get a clear, more distinct stamped image.

Plaid Design

Next, I used a black marker and straight edge to draw straight lines between the checks both vertically and horizontally. This makes a plaid design! To make it more rustic-looking, I sponged the edges of the card stock with Soft Suede. Next time I think I want to try the plaid design with Real Red ink stripes. Don’t you think that would be awesome!

Next I stamped the “logs” with Crumb Cake  (147116) ink on the back ground on the Crumb Cake (120953) layer. I then stamped the bunch of trees on top of the “logs” using Memento Tuxedo Black (132708). I sponged the edges of the Crumb Cake (120953) layer with Crumb Cake (147116) ink and a Stampin’ Sponge (141337).

Final Touches

Finally, I layered the pieces, as shown, in this order

  1. Soft Suede card base (115318)
  2. Balmy Blue Plaid layer (146982)
  3. Basic Black layer (121045)
  4. Crumb Cake layer (120953)

Sentiment Time

I stamped Happy Birthday from Happy Birthday Gorgeous (143662) on to the Crumb Cake (120953) oval and sponged the edges of the oval with Soft Suede ink. Then I layered the Crumb Cake (120953) oval with the larger Basic Black oval. When I placed the two piece oval on the card I thought it was too big so I hand trimmed the Basic Black to a minimal edge. I like that better even though the edges are not quite even 🙂

I attached a 4” X 5 1/4” piece of Whisper White (100730) card stock inside the card and stamped with the sentiment “Party Time” from Happy Birthday Gorgeous (143662).

Isn’t that a great masculine card? I hope you like it too!

Today’s card is a Thinking of You card. I was thinking of non-wintery ways of using the special new November Snowflake bundle and these flowers are what resulted.

Thinking of You Card using Stylish Christmas and November Specials Snowfall Thinlits and Snow is Gllstening

Hi Friends,

Today’s card is a “Thinking of You” card. I was thinking of non-wintery ways of using some of the new November 2018 Snowflake Showcase items and these flowers are what resulted. This card was made for my friend who lost her mom recently.

Snowflake Showcase: Available on November 1st

While Supplies Last

The Stampin’ Up! Snowflake Showcase becomes available on November 1, 2018 and includes the items pictured below. On the left is the Snowflakes are Glistening (149742) stamp set and on the right is the Snowfall Thinlits (149692) Die set. These two sets were used to make today’s card.

More Snowflake Showcase Items

Here are a couple more items from the Snowflake Showcase November Special! The picture on the left shows the Snowflake Trinkets (149620) and on the right is the Happiness Surrounds Stamp Set (149744). Another item that will be available is White Velvet paper (149619). Remember all these items become available on November 1st and are available while supplies last or until November 30th.

Color Combination of Today’s Card

Today’s pastel color combination is made up of Whisper White (100730), Balmy Blue (ink 147105/card stock 146982), and Petal Pink ((ink 147108 /card stock  146985).

Card Recipe: Cutting

I started out with a 4 1/4″ X 11″ Petal Pink (146985) card base. I scored and folded at the 5 1/2″ mark. Then I trimmed off 1 1/4″ off the bottom of the front of the card. I cut a 3 3/4″ X 4 3/4″piece of Balmy Blue (146982) card stock and a 3″ X 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White (100730). I cut a 2 3/4″ X 4″ piece of Whisper White card stock for the center. I also cut a 1 1/4″ X 4″ strip of 6X6 Subtles Designer Series Paper (DSP) (146966).

Big Shot

Next I used my trusty Big Shot (143263) and the Snowfall Thinlits (149692) Dies set. I cut out the pictured shapes from scraps of Petal Pink (146985) and Balmy Blue (146982) card stock. I especially like the lacey flower on the lower central flower. I used the Snow is Glistening (149742) stamp set to stamp the snowflake centers of the Petal Pink( 146985) flowers with Balmy Blue (147105) ink. I layered the flowers using Snail Adhesive.

Final Touches

I put the flowers together with the lovely swirls from the Stylish Christmas (clear 146773/ wood mount 146770) stamp set. I stamped the swirls in Balmy Blue (147105) ink. Then I layered the Whisper White layer with the Balmy Blue layer using Snail Adhesive (104332). I attached the two layers to the card base leaving an even amount of petal Pink card base around the three top sides.

I attached the top two flowers with Snail adhesive (104332) and the bottom flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430). I applied the Whisper White (100730) piece of card stock to the middle of the card and then the DSP strip to the bottom of the inside of the card. I finished with small blue gems to the middle of the flowers.

Do you like my Snowflake flowers? Aren’t these sets awesome!! Call or email me today and I will put you down for a set. I will place the order for you on November 1st! Otherwise the new items will be on my 24/7 online shop on November 1st! Don’t hesitate or they may sell out!
