Halloween goodies

Today I have a sneak peek at one of the things we will doing at my Stampin’ Up! Saturday Sampler Workshop on Saturday September 29th from 10-2pm. Call me to reserve your spot! Bring a friend and get $5 off your order!

And a little note about one of my quilt guild’s classes. I am in our program committee and I chose to invite Lenore Crawford to visit our guild. We had some wonderful classes. You can find out more about our guild at www.wmqg.org  We have really great teachers that come from all over the country!

Hi Friends,

Whew what a weekend! I totally meant to get up early on Monday to get this post done but I was a pooped out from my Quilt Retreat Weekend! What a wonderful time and productive too. I got 11/12 blocks done for Rosie’s quilt! Yay! I hope to get back to it after the West Michigan Quilt Show next week. I am helping with the Judging committee and so I will be working on that the first part of next week. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!

This Saturday is my Saturday Sampler FUN day from 10-2pm! I am all prepared for you to come. We will be doing some fun Halloween and Christmas cards for us to do! Just a little peek at one of the choices we will be doing! A Halloween Goodies Takeout Box! This little cutey would be good for a child of any age! The box looks like a Chinese Takeout Box…hence the name! If you are not into Halloween, you could decorate the box with Autumn leaves!

Using the Takeout Thinlits Dies (147927) and my trust Big Shot (143263), I cut out two Pumpkin Pie card stock (105117) Die-cuts. After some trial and error…mostly error!…I found that using Mini Glue Dots (103683) to hold the box together works best. I folded the die-cut at the marked creased areas, making sure the box pieces fit together with a flap at every connection except the bottom. Initially I tried stamping on the box prior to putting together but then I figured out that connecting the “bottoms” together first helped everything come together much easier. By putting the bottoms together, I could predict the outside of the box much easier.

I stamped the sections of the box with the Trick or Tweet stamp set (wood  147725 /clear 147722) with Tuxedo black Memento ink (132708). This stamp set is so cute! I have used it before for some of my Halloween cards but I thought it would look great on one of the these boxes. The box has a rectangular bottom and the panels are uneven. Prior to connecting the side panels together, I stamped the picture of the ghost bird and the mummy cat on the big panels and sentiments on the smaller panels. The sentiments I chose were “Trick or Tweet” and “Batty for You”.

I filled one of these Takeout boxes with treats and gave it to our West Michigan Quilt Guild Workshop Teacher yesterday for her to have on the way home. We had two great Quilt classes with Lenore Crawford Monday evening and on Tuesday all day! Lenore is a talented quilter who has won many honors at Quilt Shows. She has such a great sense of color and especially color blending. You can find out more about our guild at www.wmqg.org  We have really great teachers that come from all over the country! Below is a picture of the Tuesday class holding their Blended Collage Workshop efforts. Each piece of art was unique and beautiful.

I was so surprised at how different each student’s collage was! Each are beautiful and unique.

I hope you are having a wonderful afternoon! I am hoping to get a bike ride in with my sweet hubby! He just arrived home so I am off to get ready to ride!

Happy Stamping! (and Happy Quilting too!)

Happy Birthday Daisy

Hi Friends,

Hope your day is going great! mine has started early. I woke up at 3;30am and could not fall back asleep! so here I am, making a card at 3;30am. Do you think that is strange? For me, card making is so relaxing and having something beautiful as a result of my efforts is so satisfying that I feel better about things- like a lack of good sleep. Oh well, I will take a nap later, hopefully. My efforts this morning is a card made for the Fusion Card Challenge.

I attached the embossed piece to the card base with Snail Adhesive (104332). I cut Daffodil Delight (119683) card stock 1″ X 4″ and Mossy Meadow (133676) card stock  1″ X 4″.  I attached these strips to the upper third of the card with Snail Adhesive (104332).

I die cut two Pear Pizzazz (131201) leaf branches using dies from the Nature’s Roots Framelits Dies (146341). I die cut the center pieces of my daisy flower from the Eastern Medallion Thinlits (143725) from Blueberry Bushel (146986) and Pear Pizzazz (131201) card stocks. I punched two daisy pieces from Whisper White (100730) card stock with the Daisy Punch (143713). I layered the two pieces of daisy with Snail Adhesive (104332).

I attached a 4″ X 5 1/4″ Whisper White card stock to the inside of the card to add a note.

Well that’s it! Hope you like it.

Have a wonderful day and Happy Stampin’

Southern Serenade Birthday Card

Today we will be making a birthday card using the Southern Serenade stamp set. If you still would like a Holiday catalog let me know by sending your request, name and mailing address to SunnyLuCards@gmail.com

Hi Friends,

I hope your day is going good! I am typing this while on my way to Millennium Park to go for a bike ride with my sweet hubby! Today is warm and a little overcast… not unusual for this near Lake Michigan. The sun is trying  to peek out! Nice day for a ride!

Well on to my card for today! This is a great card for a beginner stamper! All you need to invest in is the Southern Serenade stamp set (wood 145918/ clear 145921), two beautiful colors of ink pads – Lovely Lipstick (147140) and Lemon Lime Twist (147145)- and black (121045) and white (100730) card stock!

Southern Serenade Stamp Set

The Southern Serenade stamp set (wood 145918/ clear 145921) is very versatile. The set includes the sentiments: ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Thank You’ and ‘I’m so Blessed to call You Friend’. The flowers and leaves are beautiful and look great stamped in one color or use Tuxedo Black Memento (132708) ink so you can color the flowers and leaves with your favorite Stampin’ Blends colors!

The lacy stamp makes a great background stamp in a light color or you can make your own decorative paper with a light or dark color. I really like this stamp set.

Card Directions

For today’s card I cut my Basic Black (121045) card base 4 1/4″ X 11″. I scored and folded it at 5 1/2″. I cut another piece of  Basic Black (121045) 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.

i cut two pieces of  Whisper White (100730) card stock 4″ X 5 1/4″and  2 3/4″ X 4″. On my larger piece of Whisper White (100730), I stamped all around the edges with my lacy stamp from Southern Serenade (wood 145918/ clear 145921 ) and Lovely Lipstick ink (147140).

On the smaller Whisper White (100730), I stamped the thin border stamp all around the card stock edge using Lemon Lime Twist (147145) ink and then on the inside portion I stamped using the small flower and Lovely Lipstick ink (147140).

i layered my pieces together as shown and attached them together using Snail Adhesive (194332). I stamped my sentiment on to a scrap of Whisper White (100730) card stock with Lovely Lipstick (147140). Then I punched out my sentiment using my Pretty Label Punch (143715). I used a Stampin’ Sponge (141337) to sponge the edges of the label with Lemon Lime Twist ink (147145). I attached the label with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430). Easy Peasy!!

Hope you have a wonderful day and Happy Stampin’
