Eastern Palace and Inlaid Technique Make a Striking Pair

Hi Friends,

Eastern Palace Perfect for Inlaid Style (Images © [2018] Stampin’ Up!)
We have a beautiful day at our cottage near Ludington, Michigan. The weather is perfect! Sunny with occasional clouds. Moderate temperatures- not too hot and not too cold to be outside. My poor sweet hubby is painting the cottage (he won’t let me help… which is ok with me!). I get to just enjoy the day!

Saturday morning we saw a beautiful red-headed woodpecker, bunnies, chipmunks, and a hummingbird during breakfast. This morning we saw a loon, chickadees, nuthatches and the woodpecker again. While I am writing this I get to look up to see the light sparkle on Ford Lake and feel the gentle breeze. Beautiful nature! Thank you God for your wonderful gifts.

Friday, before leaving to come up here, I finished some cards (and started some others) that I would love to share with you!  I used the Eastern Beauty stamp set (143675) with the coordinating Eastern Medallions Thinlits (143725). When this set came out this time last year everyone seemed to be using this set to make cards. But I have not seen many lately and I think this set is a keeper! My plan was to do multiple cards at one time. I used the same configuration of three Eastern Medallion Thinlits (143725) dies for all my cuts except one. I left the center two dies out so I could stamp in the middle.

I started with a square of Basic Black (121045) and cut my first medallion. I wanted to save the cut pieces so I used a dollar store find to contain them. My small paint pallet with small indentations worked great at keeping the tiny pieces contained and I could easily move this to the table without losing pieces. I attached my black medallion to my Highland Heather (146986) card base. Then I cut medallions from Coastal Cabana (131297) and Pumpkin Pie (105117) and reserved the cut pieces for this card and the medallions for future cards.

I initially thought I would fill in more areas but decided the tiny pieces were difficult to put adhesive on and transfer to the medallion. I decided to keep the larger pieces and only use them. We have a new tool coming out in the new catalog that may make this possible but more on that in a later post. Using my nifty release paper leftover from my Dimensionals, I applied Snail Adhesive (104332) double-sided tape to the back of the small pieces and inlaid them into the medallion. I find that Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110775) works too but my fingers get all sticky and I can’t manage the tiny pieces as well. Next time I could use a tweezer I suppose but my fingers worked just fine.

I stamped the front with the sentiment “A note for you” from the Eastern Beauty (143675) stamp set and Tuxedo Black Memento ink (132708). Inside I put a Whisper White (100730) insert inside the card with “Enjoy Today” stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento (132708).

Happy Birthday dear you! (Images © [2018] Stampin’ Up!)
For the Birthday card I cut my medallion from Pineapple Punch (146971). I saved the larger cut pieces for another card. I placed the medallion on a Highland Heather (146986) slightly smaller square. I used pieces from the first card to fill in a row of the medallion.

I stamped the circle, “Enjoy the day”  and the little flourishes with Tuxedo Black Memento (132708). Then I attached my medallion to my Basic Black (121045) card base. My oval for the sentiment is cut with my trusty Big Shot (143263) and the 2nd largest oval Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372). My birthday sentiment is from a retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp set. I just love the sentiments. I attached the oval with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430). I placed a Whisper White (100730) insert inside to write a note.
