Hi Friends,
I hope you are having a great day. Today I am squeezing in a special Christmas card recipe with a Bethlehem scene. This Christmas card has a wonderful reminder about celebrating Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem- the true reason for celebrating this upcoming Christmas season. I had this card at my Saturday Sampler Event on Saturday and my friend Carole really liked it. So, now I am sharing the card with you!
I used an old retired Stampin’ Up! Christmas set from 1998! The stamp set is called “City of David”. I was fortunate to find a woman, here in West Michigan, who was getting rid of her old stamp sets. I got this set at an excellent price! I would have paid much more for such an awesome set. Now some exciting news from our sponsor-just kidding 🙂
Celebrating World Card Making Day
Busy Week at the Quilt Show
Today I began a busy week of volunteering with the West Michigan Quilt Guild’s “Quilts on the Grand” 20th Biennial Quilt Show. Today, quilts entered in the show were dropped off for judging. Tomorrow and Wednesday I will be helping with the process of judging of the quilts. Our quilt guild has some very talented quilters and I M THRILLED WITH WHAT I HAVE seeN come in for this show! Thursday is the Quilt Show set-up. Friday and Saturday is the show! If you are available this weekend Friday October 5th and Saturday October 6th, the quilt show will be open 9-5pm at the Deltaplex in Grand Rapids, Michigan. now back to my card for today.
Today’s Card Color Combination
First of the all, the color combination for today’s card is Night of Navy (ink 147110 / card stock 100867), Gray Granite (ink 147118/ card stock (146983), and Whisper White (100730).
Today’s Christmas Card
I started with a Night of Navy card (100867) stock base cut 4 1/4″ X 11″. I scored and folded the card stock at 5 1/2″. Then I cut 1″ off the bottom of the front part of the card.
Next, I cut a piece of Gray Granite (146983) card stock 3 1/4″ X 4 1/4″. also, I cut a 2 3/4″ X 3 3/4″ whisper white card stock (100730) for the front of the card.
I stamped the Whisper White card stock (100730) with Night of Navy ink (147110). I used the City of David stamp set to stamp the Bethlehem scene and the sentiment.
Now a little Glitz: A Shining Star
I cut a small star using my Big Shot (143263) and a die from the Starlight Thinlits dies set (141840). I cut the star from a specialty flashy card stock from my stash that is very sparkly. You could easily substitute Sparkle Glimmer paper (146957) for a similar effect. I taped the star on top of the stamped star. I suppose I could have used a dimensional but I wanted the shiny star to cover the stamped star completely.
Then I cut a 1″ X 5 1/4″ strip of the flashy paper and attached it to the base of the inside of the card. I attached the whisper white (100730) card stock to the Gray Granite (146983) card stock. Then I attached these pieces to the card base leaving an even space on the three sides of the card base. I used Snail Adhesive (104332) to attach all the pieces together. I placed a 2 3/4″ X 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White (100730) card stock inside of the card at the very top of the card.
Hope you like the card for today. I like the flashy star and the little bit of flash peeking out at the bottom of the card. Off to make some more cards and relax a bit before the busyness of the next couple of days!
Have a wonderful night and Happy Stampin’
LuAnn
