Now back to my card project of the day! Today I have another “make-your-own-background” card and again with bright cheery colors! I need colors like this when Fall rolls around. Fall is not my favorite time of year. I love Fall colors but having less and less day light is hard for me. I have S.A.D. or Seasonal Affective Disorder unfortunately, and so when these darker days come I sometimes struggle.
I know some people who have things a lot worse. I know people who are fighting breast and other forms of cancer who need encouragement. Nowadays many people wear colored ribbons to show support for loved ones who are struggling with cancer. I know my best friend, Marcia, who died in April from cancer of the appendix gave me a special gold ribbon pin to wear to show my support and to represent my prayers for a cure! I still wear this ribbon pin on my coat. Do you have someone you know that could use an encouragement card? A reminder that someone cares? Maybe you could do a ribbon card representing that person’s diagnosis too!
According to Hutch News some of the different colors of ribbons include:
- Lung cancer: white
- Brain cancer: grey
- Breast cancer: pink
- Liver cancer: emerald green
- Lymphoma: lime green
- Prostate cancer: light blue
- Stomach cancer: periwinkle blue
- Bone cancer: yellow
- Leukemia: orange
- Colon cancer: dark blue
My card today is for a person who is fighting breast cancer and so is bright pink! I could not wait to get the Ribbon of Courage Stamp set (wood 143852/ clear 143855) and Support Ribbon Framelits (143749) when they first came out last year. I wanted to make cards for my friends who I knew needed encouragement.
The Ribbon of Courage Stamp set (wood 143852/ clear 143855) and Support Ribbon Framelits (143749) are versatile because they have a beautiful flower, a leaf, and hearts in addition to the 2 sizes of ribbons. I used this set in February for the beautiful hearts and flowers. It was great for Valentine’s Day cards. The sentiments are inspirational too. The set is pictured below
I cut a 5 1/2″ X 8″ piece of Powder Pink (144244). I scored and folded this piece at 4 1/4″. I cut a 4″ X 5 1/4″ and a 2 3/4″ X 4 1/2″ of Whisper White (100730). I cut a 3″ X 4 1/2″ piece of Tranquil Tide card stock (144246).
I stamped the ribbon with Berry Burst (144243) on to Berry Burst (144243) card stock and then cut the ribbon out with the Support Ribbon Framelits (143749). I cut the flower out of Berry Burst (144243) and the leaf out of Tranquil Tide (144246).
I stamped the background piece of the Whisper White (100730) card stock with stamps from the Ribbon of Courage Stamp set (wood 143852/ clear 143855) using Berry Burst (144243) and Tranquil Tide (147146) inks. I stamped directly on the top layer of Whisper White (100730) with one of the sentiments from Ribbon of Courage stamp set (wood 143852/ clear 143855) with Tranquil Tide (147146).
I taped the layers to the Powder Pink (144244) card base with Snail Adhesive (104332). The ribbon was attached with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108). The flower and leaf were added using my trusty release paper and Snail Adhesive (104332) method.
I hope you like my card! If you need any of these supplies I would appreciate your order! Shop online here 24/7
Have a great day and Happy Stampin’
