Inlaid Card: Happy Birthday Gorgeous!

Hi Friends,

Today is all sunshine in Grand Rapids, Michigan! Much needed rain came last night and the grass is greening up! Sunshine inspired my card choice for today. I used the bright mix of Pineapple Punch (147141), Call Me Clover (147139), and Melon Mambo (147051) as my color combination. I saw a card similar to this idea on Pinterest with inlaid ovals made by Zara Khan at Handmade4cards.com. I fell in love with the delicate little wild flowers she used on her ovals. I pinned a copy on to my Pinterest page here. Her card is just beautiful!

This is how I decided to make my inlaid style card. I cut a 4″ X 5 1/4″ rectangle of Pineapple Punch(146971) card stock with my second largest Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372) oval horizontally across. I used the side edges of the rectangle to line up the oval evenly. I did the outside ovals first and then centered the middle one between. When I did the middle one it almost looked like the ovals would overlap but they didn’t- yay! Then I embossed the Pineapple Punch (146971)  rectangle with my trusty Big Shot (143263) and Layered Leaves (143704) embossing folder. This embossing folder is thicker than most so I used only my magnetic plate and one cutting pad. In case you wondered why I did it in this order: if I embossed the rectangle then cut out the ovals I would not be able to use the cut out ovals later and putting an embossed image through the BIg Shot (143263) after the initial embossing would flatten out all your embossing.

I cut three of the second largest Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372) oval out of Whisper White (100730). I did a couple extra in case I made a mistake. I used the Happy Birthday Gorgeous (143662) stamp set to stamp my flowers. If I did this card again I would probably stamp the images with Tuxedo Black Memento (132708) and color the images with Stampin’ Write markers or Blendables alcohol markers. I attached the rectangle then inlaid the ovals all with with Snail Adhesive (104332). I used the stamped border from Happy Birthday Gorgeous (143662) using Melon Mambo (147052) onto a thin strip of scrap Whisper White (100730) and trimmed evenly with my Paper Snips (103579).  I attached my sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108).

I love the sunny, summery look of my card! Very cheery and feminine. Always good to have an extra birthday card around! I think the Happy Birthday Gorgeous (143662) is a great birthday set to have on hand. The set has multiple awesome birthday sentiments and you can mix and match them.

Thanks for joining me today!

Happy Stampin’
