Returning to a Favorite: A Butterfly Visits Some Soft Colored Flowers

Today’s card has 3d flowers made with dies from Stampin’ Up!’s Eastern Medallion Thinlits (143725) and an embossed butterfly from the Springtime Impression Thinlits (146326). Details on how to use your thinlits to emboss!

Hi Friends

Hope you are having a wonderful day so far and that you find some time to have some fun crafting! Are you looking for a group of women to stamp with in the West Michigan area? I am forming a Stamp Club and would love for you to join us! Call today at 616-490-1731 for details. My plan is to have the Stamp Club meet once a month on the first Friday of the month from 1-4pm. At this meeting members would learn new techniques and make at least 3 cards or 3D projects.

All 6 members would commit to a 6 month period. Each person would agree to order at least $25 of products each month. Every month one member would be the hostess and would get the hostess benefits. Which would be at least $15 worth of free products. The amount of free products you would earn depends on how much the club members order.

Would this interest you? Do you have any Stamping friends that might join us? Call 616-490-1731 or email me today

Wednesday was the start of Bible Study Fellowship and I am so excited to get back into my study of the Bible. I need the discipline of BSF to keep myself accountable. My goal this year is to do my study daily instead of doing it all in one day. Isn’t it hard to change your habits! I would appreciate it if you would pray that I find the discipline to do my study daily! This year we are encouraged to not look at the study as homework but as heart work. And I would like that daily dose of heart work.

On to my card for the day! This card was started as a homework assignment for a Stamp Club I belong to. Inez, our leader, showed us how to emboss using dies and the Big Shot Embossing Mats (146327).  Our assignment was to emboss with a butterfly die from Springtime Impressions Thinlits (146326) on our choice of color of card stock. I chose Petal Pink (146985) for my top layer of my card and embossed the butterfly on the lower right corner. Then our instructions were to make the piece into a card and bring it back the next month. Now that I have shown it to my club I can share it with you!

Embossing with your dies is not hard. The secret to embossing with your dies is in the layering of your items! Write this information down and keep it with your Big Shot Embossing Mats (146327) and you won’t cut into your mats accidentally!

the order is:

1) Big Shot Platform

2) Clear cutting mat

3) Die with cutting side up

4) Card stock

5) Blue or Gray Mat

6) White Impression Plate

These layers should roll through the Big Shot fairly easy so if you have difficulty rolling through STOP and look at your layers agai to make sure you have the layers correct. In case you wondered the difference between the Blue Mat and the Gray Mat is that the Blue Mat makes less of an indentation than the Gray Mat. I like the Blue Mat better myself because sometimes the Gray Mat embosses to the point where you can see through the card stock. With some dies this might be an interesting choice. I will have to experiment and let you know 🙂

My color combination for this card is Petal Pink (ink 147108/ card stock 146985), Mint Macaron (ink 147106/ card stock 138337), Balmy Blue (ink 147105/ card stock 146982), Pineapple Punch (ink 147141/ card stock 146971), and Whisper White (100730).

I must confess (as you may have guessed) that I am in love with the Eastern Medallion Thinlits (143725)! I chose to use these dies to make the multi-colored flowers. I spread the flowers all over the card like a garden that a butterfly might visit. I decided to inlay one flower into the Petal Pink card stock (146985). This flower was cut out of Whisper White card stock (100730).  Then I used a Stampin’ Sponge (141337) to gently rub some Petal Pink ink (147108) on the surface of the flower accenting the raised areas. I cut a large flower from Balmy Blue (146982). I used a smaller die to cut out the centers of the large flowers and replaced them with a different color of the same tiny die.

I used a medium sized die to cut flowers of the Whisper White (100730), Mint Macaron (138337) and Pineapple Punch (146971) card stocks. I placed tiny die cuts from the Share What You Love Specialty DSP (146926) in the centers of the medium flowers. All the flowers have one of the tiny Share What You Love Artisan Pearls (146927) in the center.

I like the way this card turned out. How about you? Being able to emboss with your dies will add many different looks to our cards! I am so glad I invested in the Big Shot Emb0ssing Mats (146327)! You can pick up your set now at my 24/7 Stampin’ Up! online store here.

Have a wonderful evening and Happy Stamping,

LuAnn
