Floral Frame Thanksgiving Card

(Image © [2018] Stampin’ Up!®)
Hi Friends,

How are you today? Hopefully you are doing great! Today’s Floral Frame Thanksgiving Card is made with the Floral Frames stamp set (clear 146508/ wood mount 146505) and the coordinating Foliage Frame Framelits Dies (146353). These sets come as a bundle (clear 148406/ wood mount 148405) too and when you buy both you can save 10%.

Color Combination

Today’s card is made from the color combination of Poppy Parade (ink 147050/ card stock 119793), Mango Melody (ink 147093/ card stock 146989), Shaded Spruce (ink 147088/ card stock 146981), Whisper White (100730), and Basic Black.

I started by cutting my Mango Melody (146989) card base 4 1/4″ X 11″.  Then, I scored and folded the card base at 5 1/2″. Next, I cut Poppy Parade (119793) card stock 4″ X 5 1/4″.  My trusty Big Shot (143263) and a large layered circle Framelits(141705) was used to cut out one of the second largest circles out of Whisper White (100730). Finally I cut out a 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White (100730) card stock for the inside of the card.

Stamping and Coloring

Next, I stamped the wreath image from the Foliage Frame Framelits Dies (146353) using Memento Tuxedo Black (132708) ink on the Whisper White card stock circle (100730). This type of ink is used when one is going to use Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I let the ink dry completely before coloring so the black doesn’t smear. I colored the images as pictured with Light Shaded Spruce (147936), Light (147943) and Dark (147944) Mango Melody, and Light Poppy Parade (146878). I stamped “Happy Thanksgiving” from the retired Stamp set called Itty Bitty Greetings in the center of the wreath with Mango Melody ink (147093).

Details and Finishing

I cut three pieces of gold-flecked black Bakers Twine (you can substitute Solid Bakers Twine (141682)) approximately seven inches long. I placed adhesive on the back near where I wanted the the twine on the front. This helped me keep the twine straight on the front because I could adjust as necessary before attaching the twine to the paper. Then I cut a four to five inch piece of Baker’s Twine and tied it in a knot around the three pieces of twine.

Then, I sponged the edges of the circle with Poppy Parade (147050) ink. Next I put the pieces together using double sided adhesive tape. I attached the circle to the Poppy Parade and the Poppy Parade piece to the card base with double sided adhesive tape. I added the Whisper White (100730) card stock to the inside of the card.

There, all done! What do you think? I am thinking I could use this stamp set for a Christmas card too. What if I substitute green for the Mango Melody and change the Baker’s Twine to some gold edged ribbon. Maybe color the wreath using different greens for the leaves and make the berries red? Do you think that may work? I will have to try that!

Have a great rest of your day and Happy Stampin’

Berry Burst Blizzard Wishes Card

Today I had so much fun playing with some of the new Snowflake Showcase products! I played with the Snowfall Thinlits Dies (149692) and Snow is Glistening stamp set (149742).

Hi Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful evening! Today I had so much fun playing with some of the new Snowflake Showcase products! I played with the Snowfall Thinlits Dies (149692) and Snow is Glistening stamp set (149742). One of the cards I made is the Berry Burst Blizzard Wishes Card.

Color Combination

Today’s card color combination is made up of Berry Burst (ink 147143/card stock 144243) and Blackberry Bliss (ink 147092/card stock 133675). I also used Glitter Enamel Dots (146934) in Gorgeous Grape and Melon Mamba. I used the Dark Rich Razzleberry (144583) Blends alcohol marker on the Melon Mamba Glitter Enamels to make them darker pink. I also used a holographic paper from my stash for the center snowflake.

Initially I cut a 4 1/4” X 11” piece of Berry Burst card stock (144243). I scored and folded the card stock at 5 1/2”. Then I cut a 4” X 5 1/4” piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock (133675). Next, I cut a 4” X 5 1/4” Whisper White (100730) card stock. Using my trusty Big Shot (143263) and the largest snowflake from the Snowfall Thinlits Dies (149692), I cut the snowflake from the upper part of the Blackberry Bliss( 133675) card stock piece. I made sure to run the sandwich through my Big Shot (143263) an extra two times. This makes using my Piercing Tool (126189) to remove the little pieces from the snowflake much easier. I cut a midsize snowflake from the holographic paper.

Adhering the Snowflake Shapes

I started by using my double sided adhesive on the back of the Blackberry Bliss (144243) card stock piece. My process included putting the card stock on release paper so I would not get adhesive anywhere but the card stock. I like this method better than using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (119755). With Liquid Glue my fingers get so sticky that it makes handling the delicate pieces more difficult. When I apply the tape I make sure to start on the biggest and strongest part and work toward the outside or weaker parts.

So, for the background, I worked carefully taping from the outside toward the opening in the card stock. I applied adhesive to the snowflake shapes on release paper too. With the snowflakes I worked from the middle of the snowflake to the tip and applied tape on the middle of each arm of the snowflake. I offset the large snowflake so more of the Berry Burst would show from the background. The holograph snowflake was centered on the large snowflake.

Next, I finished the card details. I added a Gorgeous Grape Glitter Enamel Dot (146934) to the center of the holographic snowflake. I stamped the sentiment “Sending a Blizzard of Wishes for a Wonderful Season” Snow is Glistening stamp set (149742) to a scrap of Berry Burst card stock (144243) using Blackberry Bliss ink (147092). I punched out the sentiment with the Everyday Label (144668). Then I trimmed off part of the top and more of the bottom of the label. I sponged the edges of the label with Blackberry Bliss ink (147092). after that I applied the three Melon Mambo Glitter Enamel Dots (146934) that I colored with the Dark Rich Razzleberry (144583) alcohol marker to the upper part of the label.

Finally I attached the Whisper White (100730) card stock to the inside of the card. I stamped the sentiment “Merry Christmas to you and Peace on Earth to all the World” from the Snow is Glistening stamp set (149742) using Blackberry Bliss ink (147092).
