Thinking of You with Fall Leaves: ‘Retro’ Cas(e) This Sketch #55

Retro Case This Sketch #55Hi Friends,

Hi Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful day! I had a busy, tiring, lovely day yesterday! My lovely daughter, her husband and their sweet son came to visit. We had the “great grands” over for a visit and brunch so they could spend some time with Levi, my grandson. He put on quite a show with his big vocabulary for a 2 year old, he wow-ed them with his knowledge of the different colors and number order. He is just in love with trucks. We got a large toy semi-truck with spaces for smaller “matchbox” style cars for his Christmas present and this semi has lived with us since. This way he has a special toy to play with when he visits.

I had so much fun but boy was I tired out yesterday evening and I woke up during the night because my naughty back was misbehaving! All this to say I am a little behind on my card making! This afternoon I got motivated and made two very different cards. One is for my grand daughter’s 7th birthday later this month and the other is the card for today.

Color Combination

My color combination for this card  is Poppy Parade (ink 147050/ card stock 119793),  Granny Apple Green (ink 147095/ card stock 146990), Whisper White (100730), and Mango Melody (ink 147093/ card stock 146989).

Card Directions

I cut my Poppy Parade (119793) card base at 4 1/4″ X 11″ and scored/folded at 5 1/2″. I cut my Whisper White (100730) card stock layer 4″X 5 1/4″. I dry embossed my Whisper White (100730) layer with my trusty Big Shot (143263) and the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (147906). I love this new embossing folder from the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.

I die cut the Granny Apple Green (146990)  fence using my trusty Big Shot (143263) and the Farmhouse Framelits Dies (147922). Yes! I got to use my new Take Your Pick Tool (144107) to poke out the sections between the fence posts. This is a great new all-in-one type tool from the Holiday catalog. See my description of this tool from yesterday’s post here.

I stamped the three leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set (143726) with Poppy Parade (147050), Mango Melody (147093), and Granny Apple Green (147095) inks.  I cut them out with my trusty Big Shot (143263) and the coordinating die set called Seasonal Layers Thinlits (143751) .

Assembling the Card

I used Snail Adhesive (104332) generously to attach the Whisper White (100730) embossed layer to the card base. I attached the fence after carefully applying Snail Adhesive (104332) to the fence while laying it wrong side up on release paper or on a silicone craft sheet (127853).

The bottom Poppy Parade leaf is attached with Snail Adhesive (104332). The Mango Melody leaf is attached with Mini Glue Dots (103683). The Granny Apple Green leaf is attached with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108).

The white Baker’s Twine (124262) was colored using my Mango Melody Stampin’ Write marker (147160) since I did not have any of that color twine. After the twine dried, I tied a bow and attached it using a mini Glue Dot (103683).

My sentiment, “Thinking of You” is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set (143726) and is stamped in Mango Melody ink (147093).  I used the Pretty Label Punch (143715) to punch out the sentiment and used Poppy Parade ink (147050) to sponge (141337) the edges of the label. The label was attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).

Well that took longer to describe than do! I hope you enjoyed my card for today. If you are looking for a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I would be so please if you would ask me! I am available for questions about products or classes or anything stamping related!

so back to my card! I have now used all four of the cute animals in tRick or Tweet (wood blocks 147725/ clear 147722) set. I am just in love with this set! I am not a big Halloween fan but this set is cute enough to send to my grandchildren! The kids really don’t like the scary ones.

My color combination is again the usual Halloween colors. I chose Basic Black (121045), Calypso Coral (ink 147101/ card stock (122925), and Whisper White (100730).

I could not wait to use the Trick or Tweet (wood 147725/ clear 147722) Stamp set again! The stamps are so cute!  I decided to use squares for the central motif frame again. I used my Big Shot (143263) and my Stitched Shaped Framelits (145372) to cut a 2 1/8″ square of Whisper White (100730) on which to stamp the sweet little mummy kitty and pumpkin basket. This time I stamped the pumpkin basket right on the center square instead of cutting out a separate circle on which to stamp the pumpkin.

I again used my Stampin’ Blends to color the image. This time I used Light Calypso Coral (144042) to color the kitty, Light Smoky Slate (145054)  to color the mummy bandages, Light Petal Pink (146866) for the nose and inside the ears, and Light Daffodil Delight (144586) for the eyes, nose and mouth of the Jack O’ Lantern.

I cut one 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White (100730) card stock for the first layer and my Basic Black (121045) card base is 4  1/4″ X 11″. My card base is scored at 5 1/2″ and folded in half.  I cut two 2 5/8″ squares using my Stitched Shape Framelits (145372) and my Big Shot (143263). One square of which is Calypso Coral  (122925) and one is Basic Black (121045) card stock. I layered the three squares as pictured and used Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430) to lift up the three squares. I centered the motif this time on the Whisper White (100730) piece. I cut a rectangle 1″ X 4″ of Calypso Coral (122925) to place below the motif. I stamped the sentiment centered directly on this strip. I decided to skip the Black Baker’s Twine (141682) this time.

Below are all of the cards I made with this cute Trick or Tweet (wood blocks 147725/ clear 147722) stamp set! Aren’t the animals cute and I like the sentiments too! This stamp set is a keeper for Halloween cards in my opinion! Which animal is your favorite? I am partial to the kitty myself. Although I do like the elephant too. Ok so they are all cute!

Please leave a comment below with your choice. Thanks!

Have a wonderful evening and Happy Stampin’

BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET FOR YOU: Make your own Pattern Paper

Stamp your own background with these gorgeous colors to make a cheerful bright card. A simple fun fold card.

Hi Friends

How are you doing? Hope you are having a wonderful day today! Here it is already September and the kids are back in school. I hope you will find time to create today!

I had a wonderful time making this card. Just working with these colors makes my day better. I just love bright colors. I chose Melon Mambo (ink 147051/ card stock 115320), Pineapple Punch (ink 147141/ card stock 146971), Granny Apple Green (ink 147095/ card stock 146990), Highland Heather (ink 147103/ card stock 146986), and Coastal Cabana (ink 147097/ card stock 131297) as my color combination.

My card base is a 4 1/4″ X 11″ Melon Mambo (115320) card stock. I scored it at 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″ and folded together at the 5 1/2″ mark and folded backward at the 4 1/4″ mark. So your measurements of the sections in the front of the card are 1 1/4″ and 4 1/4″.

I cut a 1′ X 4″ strip and two 4″ squares of Whisper White (100730). On the 1″ strip I stamped using Granny Apple Green ink (147095) and the small flower stamp from Beautiful Bouquet (143666) on the 1” strip. I adhered the strip to the front of the card in the smaller section with Snail Adhesive (104332). I taped Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine on the back of this part of the card and added extra tape to close this section of the card. So the ends of the Baker’s Twine did not show.

I stamped one of the 4″ squares with flowers from the Beautiful Bouquet (143666) stamp set. I started with the largest stamp and worked toward smallest stamp. I always stamp in odd numbers. Odd numbers seem to please the eye aesthetically. I used the colors Melon Mambo (147051), Pineapple Punch (147141),  and Coastal Cabana (147141), Highland Heather (147103) and Granny Apple Green (147095) in that order. When I stamped I balanced the color all around the card. I attached the 4″ square to the front of the card using Snail Adhesive (104332).

For the sentiment I punched a 1 3/8 “ Scallop Circle Punch (146139) out of Melon Mambo (115320) and a  1 1/8” Scallop Circle Punch (146138) out of Whisper White (100730) card stock. I layered these circles with Snail Adhesive (104332) and then attached the two pieces to the card with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108). I taped the second 4″ square inside the card.

There that was easy and fast! This bright and cheery card could be used as a Birthday card or given with a gift or used to cheer someone who is having a hard time. I hope you like it and will try this technique. Please share your cards here when you do them.

If you are looking for a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I would love to be that person. Please contact me at with any questions about stamping.

Have a wonderful and Happy Stampin’
