Hi Friends,

Today I have a wonderful Country Christmas card to share- complete with a Farmhouse, decorated white picket fence, and a cute little dachshund puppy with a Christmas sweater!

Color Combination

My multi-color combination for my card today is Early Expresso (ink 147114/ card stock (119686), Gray Granite (ink 147118 /card stock 146983, Whisper White (100730), Crumb Cake (ink 147116 /card stock 120953), Poppy Parade (ink 147050/ card stock  119793) with dashes of Shaded Spruce, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive.

Card Recipe: begin cutting

I began my card by cutting my Early Expresso (119686) card base 4 1/4″ X 11″ and I also cut a 2 3/4″ X 4 1/2″ piece of Early Expresso (119686) card stock. Next, I cut two pieces of Whisper White (100730) card stock 4″ X 5 1/4″ and one piece of Crumb Cake (120953) card stock 2 1/2″ X 4 1/4″.

I used my Stamparatus (146276) to stamp one of the 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White (100730) card stock using the Buffalo Check clear stamp (147794) and Gray Granite ink (147118). I stamped the piece three times to get the color I wanted. With the Stamparatus (146276) stamping at the same spot each time is easy. i got a clear dark, distinct stamp just like I wanted.

Stamparatus Accessories now Available

The Stamparatus (146276) is also really nice when you are using Tuxedo black Memento ink (132708) and are stamping a sentiment! Recently Stampin’ Up has  added a new Stamparatus accessories bundle (151049). the accessories can be purchased separately or as a bundle. I plan on investing in another set of Stamparatus plates (149693). My reasoning is that I can stamp my whole card without having to remove my stamps-just by changing the plates. Check out the details on my 24/7 online Stampin’ Up! Shop here.

Time to Use some more Ink

Next, I stamped my tree from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set (148478) on to a scrap of Whisper White card stock (100730) using Gray Granite ink (147118). I thought the tree looked too stark and white so I sponged (141337) some Gray Granite ink (147118) on the tree to give it color and texture. I liked it much better that way. Then I stamped the house from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set (148478) on the Crumb Cake card stock (120953) with Early Expresso ink (147114).

Time to Color

I used Tuxedo black Memento ink (132708) to stamp the Dachshund from the Ready for Christmas stamp set (144823) and the wreath from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set (148478) on to scraps of Whisper White card stock (100730). I used Memento because I wanted to color with my Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers. I used Light Shaded Spruce (147936) and light Poppy Parade (146878) Stampin’ Blends on the wreath. On the Dachshund, I used the colors Light (144582) and Dark (144581) Crumb Cake on the dog. The dachshund’s sweater has light (146878) Poppy Parade, light (144574) Old Olive, and Dark Daffodil Delight (144585) Stampin” Blends.

Big Shot Time

I have so much fun using my Big Shot (143263) and dies! I love the 3D effect die-cuts give to my cards. I used the Farmhouse Framelit Dies (147922) to cut out the tree, the dachshund, the wreath, the pretty Whisper White (100730) picket fence, and the tiny red Poppy Parade (119793) bows for the fence.

Putting it all Together

Now I get to put the card together! I attached the “gingham check” looking 1st layer with Snail Adhesive (104332). Hmmm… I wonder how the card would look using Poppy Parade ink with the Buffalo Check clear (147794) stamp on this layer! (Buffalo Check wood mount 147797

I attached one of the 4″ X 5 1/4″ pieces of Whisper White inside the card. Then, I attached the Early Expresso and Crumb Cake layers. Next, I applied Snail Adhesive (104332) to the tree using my trusty release paper to catch the extra adhesive. I used a mini Stampin’ Dimensional (144108) (which are 10% off right now!) to attach the wreath to the house. I attached the fence and bows using Snail Adhesive. Finally, I attached the puppy. Yay! all done!

oops I forgot my sentiment. I initially thought I would stamp directly on to the Buffalo Check layer but decided to stamp “From Our Home to Yours” From the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set (148478) on a scrap of Whisper White card stock. I kept trimming the strip down until I was happy with it! I attached the strip with Snail Adhesive. I also stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set inside the card: “Thoughts of Happiness and Joy to you and yours”. there, now it is really done.

Hi Friends,

These sets can be purchase in a bundle which saves you 10%! The Dashing Deer bundles are available in wood block mounted 149934  and (not mounted) clear (149935). Update on the WMQG “Quilt on the Grand” Quilt Show

As I said in my post on Monday, today we are going to finish up quilt judging. I have learned so much about technical aspects of quilting by hearing what the judges say about the various quilts. Tomorrow is set-up time and the show opens at the Delta-Plex here in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday morning at 9am! The hours will be 9-5pm both Friday and Saturday (October 5th and 6th).

Tie that Bonds Fund

The majority of the profits from the quilt show go to a special fund that our quilt guild started many years ago. This fund is called “The Tie that Binds” because the money goes to help parents bond (or keep the bond going) with their babies. This fund is used for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at DeVos Children’s Hospital. The social workers for the NICU use the funds to give gift cards for gas purchases or for a meal at the hospital cafeteria or one of many monetary needs that parents have while having a baby in NICU.

Quilt Raffle

Also our guild has over 20 quilts that we are raffling off to support our charity. Come to the show, purchase some raffle tickets, and win a chance at a home-made quilt! Tickets for the raffle are just $1 or 6 for $5. I hope you will come out to see the quilts and support the “Tie that Binds” charity.

Back to our Card for Today: Color Combination

My color combination for today is Balmy Blue (ink 147105/ card stock 146982), Highland Heather (ink 147103/ card stock 146986), and Whisper White (100730).

Card Recipe

I started out by cutting my Balmy Blue (146982) card base 4 1/4″ X 11″.  My next layer was a 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Highland Heather card stock (146986). Next I embossed a 3 3/4″ X 5″ piece of Whisper White Card stock (100730) using my Blizzard Thinlits Die (147902), my Big Shot (143263), and Big shot embossing Mats (146327). If you need a refresher on using your Big Shot embossing mats check out my post on this process here Called: “Returning to a Favorite: A Butterfly Visits Some Soft Colored Flowers”.

Adding Texture to my Background

I added some texture to my embossed card stock by using my Stampin’ Sponge (141337) and Balmy Blue ink (147105). I very lightly dabbed my sponge in some ink and lightly, with a circular motion, added some Balmy Blue to accent the snowflakes to add some texture. I think it makes the background look like when it is snowing.

My Dashing Deer

My larger deer is from the Dashing Deer Stamp set (wood mount 147731/ clear 147728) . this deer was stamped with Highland Heather ink (147103) on to a  scrap of Whisper White (100730). Then I cut out the large deer using the Detailed Deer Thinlits dies (147915). I love the pattern stamped on the larger deer…don’t you? It’s so pretty!

I, then, stamped the small deer from the Dashing Deer stamp set (wood mount 147731/  clear 147728) on to Balmy Blue card stock (146982using Balmy Blue ink (147105). Next, I used the smaller deer die to cut out the deer. I attached both deer to my card with Snail Adhesive (104332).

The Sentiment

I go back and forth on whether I should punch out my label before or after stamping. For this card I chose to punch out a Pretty Label Punch (143715) from Whisper White card stock (100730) before stamping.

I stamped the sentiment from the Dashing Deer stamp set (wood mount 147731/  clear 147728) : “Remembering you this season with warm Thoughts and a Wish for Everything Merry”. This sentiment fits, but it is a tight fit! I decided to sponge the edges of my label with Highland Heather ink (147103). Finally, I attached a 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White card stock to the inside of the card.

Hi Friends

I stamped the dachshund from the Ready for Christmas (144823) and die cut it with the Christmas Staircase Thinlits (144679). I also used the Sheet Music Stamp for this card (wood 143967/ clear 143970).

Card Directions

I cut the Smoky Slate (131202) card base 4 1/4″ X 11″ and scored and folded it at 5 1/2″. Using my Stamparatus (146276), Whisper White card stock (100730), Smoky Slate ink  (147113), and the Sheet Music Stamp (wood 143967/ clear 143970). I attached this card stock with Snail Adhesive (104332) to the card base.

I stamped the Christmas tree from Winter Woods (Wood 147658/ Clear 147661) stamp set with Mossy Meadow ink (147111). I die cut it with the In the Woods Framelits Dies (147919) and my trusty Big Shot (143263). I attached the tree with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).

After stamping the sentiment from Winter Woods (Wood 147658/ Clear 147661) stamp set, I punched it out with the Everyday Label (144668). I sponged the edges of the label with a Stampin’ Sponge (141337) and Mossy Meadow ink (147111).

I stamped the dachshund from the Ready for Christmas (144823).  I colored the dachshund with dark (145055) Smoky Slate, light (145054) Smoky Slate, light Real Red (147933) and light Old Olive (144574).  I die cut the dachshund with the Christmas Staircase Thinlits (144679). Finally I cut a 4″ X 5 1/2″ piece of Whisper White card stock (100730) and attached it to the center of the card. I stamped the inside with “At Christmas and Always” from Ready for Christmas (144823).

Hope you like the card for today. Let me know in the comments below.
